It's National Brain Aneurysm Awareness Month! We're here to celebrate Brendan. ✨ Two years ago, he was hit by a sudden, intense headache during hockey practice. The headache turned out to be a ruptured brain aneurysm. When he was transferred from his local ER to Boston Children's, a team of experts from the Cerebrovascular Surgery and Intervention Center (CSIC) sprang into action to block the balloon-like bulge in a blood vessel in his brain and prevent further rupture through a minimally invasive procedure called coiling.

Today, Brendan’s back on the ice — and on stage, sharing his story at CSIC's Brain Aneurysm Family Day. 👏 "Speaking to the group was nerve-wracking. But we're all there for the same thing: to get more information about why brain aneurysms happen and what to do. It’s all for a good cause." Thank you, Brendan, for paying it forward.

This is great news for you, Brendan. My late mom had an aneurysm at her retirement party back in Feb 2003 and she was one of the 1% who survived but had no quality of life for last 5 years until death. She couldn’t walk, eat, write, draw, and talk but she was fully aware of what’s going on in 1-3 years then had Alzheimer’s. Glad to hear technology has improved.

Sending prayers for return to excellent health for a long life. My 24 year old son, who was also a hockey player wasn’t so lucky, he passed within 18 hours. That was in 2003. I know awareness and treatment have come a long way.

God Bless! Boston Children’s Hospital does wonderful work! Good luck, Brendan!
